I am using SM-01 led. One led burned after continuously running several hours at 700mA. Do you have information on the reliability and life time of this LED? Thx.
Lifetime and reliability of all high power LEDs is largely determined by the drive current and LED junction temperature. With the very small size of the Micro Z1, there is minimal surface area for the heat to spread, so you may need to compensate for that with a larger heatsink, forced air cooling or reduced drive current.
You also need to ensure that the LED module is carefully attached to the heatsink with double sided thermal tape. Be sure that all surfaces are impeccably clean and that you apply firm pressure to the LED module for at least 30 seconds or more to ensure a thermal bond between the LED, TIM and heatsink.
